While visiting Lednica Landscape Park you have to bear in mind that the reason to create it in 1988 was to protect so called "cultural landscape" the unique in the country scale land surrounding the Lednica lake. It was the beginning of the Polish history. Some traces of the settlement dates back the Stone Age. The area developed quickly in the 10th and 11th century, when Mieszko I built his fortress with his private residence here on the biggest of the lake’s four island - Ostrów Lednicki. The remainings of the prince residence are best preserved here comparing to all the similar buildings across Europe. It is the most interesting place to visit in Lednica while you look at the ramparts and ruins of the chuch at the same time. Some stone baptismal fonts were found in the chapel of the prince residence. This is why it is supposed that the „Christening of Poland” took place here. According to the tradition Bolesław the Brave welcomed the German Emperor Otto III in Ostrów Legnicki. Otto III was said to walk barefoot on the scarlet cloth in his pilgrimage to the grave of St. Adalbert...

Lednica Landscape Park is the only park located mostly in the area of the District of Gniezno (96%), the rest lies within the borders of the District of Poznań. The park total area is 7652,48 ha, for the parish of Łubowo (2823,47 ha), Kiszkowo (2421,29 ha), Kłecko (2071,17 ha) and Pobiedziska (336,55 ha). Landscape values are going to be presented while analysing each of the parish or municipality. Many rare species of plants and animals can be found here. The southern part of the Park is mostly plain area with its typical agricultural landscape. The land is mostly cultivated with some meadows. There are not many forests, just some minor woods among the fields. It is less interesting part of the park, if we take into consideration the landscape value. Anyway, those who enjoy the open spaces and decide to go for a walk among the fields, can hear some nightingales singing, buntings, ganders, buzzard hunting its prey, a sneaking fox, deer and hare, although the last animal listed here is rare in the recent years.
